Etymology : Latin

(human, refined, cultured)
Refined - Norms, being civilize, and socialize
Cultured - Adaptation to environment
(social interaction, norms)
Human - Having the nature of people, being a
person

The humanities are those
academic disciplines that
study the expressions of
human beings that explore
and reveal what it means to
be human.

feelings, thought, intuition, values,
and ideas

During Medieval Age:
The humanities dealt with the
metaphysics of the religious
philosopher.

To make man richer, because during
that time only the rich people can
make art like paintings, sculpture

Why Study Humanities?


Knowledge and skills alone cannot lead
humanity to a happy and dignified life.
Humanity has every reason to place the
proclaimers of high moral standards and
values above the discoverers of objective
truth. What humanity owes to personalities
like Buddha, Moses, and Jesus ranks for me
higher than all the achievements of the
inquiring and constructive mind.
