recover from the acute phase of illness.

than 2 yr of age with enteroviral CNS
infections suffer an ACUTE
COMPLICATION:
SEIZURES
INCREASED ICP
COMA.
*Almost all have favorable long-term
neurologic outcome.

-persisting headache

INVOLVEMENT IS EVIDENT
-INFECTION CAUSED BY HSV
-INFANTS > OLDER CHILDREN
