Ethics is a system of moral principles (BBC,
2014) .
Rachels and Rachels (1993) note that ethics
represent a set of moral principles, rules of
conduct or values.
Ethics concerns right and wrong, moral duty and
responsibility, and personal character. (Meese,
2004)

DEFINITION
Accountability is an ethical concept it concerns
proper behaviour, and deals with the responsibilities
of individuals and organisations for their actions
towards other people and agencies. (Bovens, 2005).

TYPES OF TEACHERS ACCOUNTABILITY

ACCOUNTABILITY TO SELF
The teachers responsibility towards him/herself as educators.
Always try to empowering themselves with various types of
knowledge.
Have sense of responsibility towards the pupils development.
Know the characteristics and ethics of a teacher.

ACCOUNTABILITY TO PUPILS
Understand and concern about the pupils condition
(individually)
Try to fulfill the pupils need and meet their learning styles etc.
Treat the pupils equally no biasness, prejudice and favoritism.
Teach the pupils real-life surviving skills ( not only teach what is
in the book)
Know the limitations between teacher-pupils

ACCOUNTABILITY TO PARENTS
Making sure that parents are aware with the pupils
progression and condition in school.
If theres any problem with the pupils, discuss with their
parents.
Discuss with parents on the best way to help the
development of pupils. (parents also play their roles at
home)

ACCOUNTABILITY TO SCHOOL
Involve and participate in any schools activities and
programmes.
Did not misuse the properties and facilities provided
in the school.
Making sure that you did not disgrace the schools
good name.
Contribute as many as you can for the schools
benefit.

ACCOUNTABILITY TO PROFESSION
Follow the guideline of teachers
professionalism ethics.
Never tarnish the professions images with
unethical acts.
Always show good examples and impressions to
others, as a teacher.

ACCOUNTABILITY TO NATION
Try to produceMalaysian citizens who are:
knowledgeable and competent.
possesshigh moral standards
responsible and capable of achieving high level of personal
well-being
able tocontribute to the harmony and betterment of the
family, the society and the nationat large.

TEACHER INTEGRITY

MEANING

wholeness or completeness
soundness of moral principle which
refers to the sincerity and honesty
(Nillsen, 2004).
But the meaning is most often used to
emphasize morality.
