Opportunities

Goals

Upon arriving to the Communications Department,

there were several projects that required immediate
assistance

Implement my skills and knowledge into the

departments workforce in order to increase its
productivity and the rate of completed projects

There were additional assignments such as photo

editing for certain public appearances that required
specialized skills

Reinforce, develop, and further supplement my

current abilities from the real world experience EMD
Serono has to offer

The team wanted to highlight more employees

accomplishments on Nucleus and slides on LCDs
but were constrained due to resources

Develop new skill sets from the tutelage and

expertise of my colleagues and mentor

Many files and pictures required re-organization

that was previously unresolved due to workload
conflicts

Become a positive influence in the company by

alleviating part of the burden and responsibility of
many members of the department

Current methods on Nucleus and in general were

systematic generic after years of similar content
There were additional plans of jump starting new
projects to help raise company awareness on the
community and improve employee relations that
required new insight and fresh ideas

Implement my own style of design and bring my

own ideas to the table as to how the department
could better perform and raise the awareness of its
community

Adopt EMD Seronos philosophy of going All In

through my work

Conclusion

Projects and ideas previously hypothesized were

put into action such as the future content of Whos
New

Certain aspects US Communications is

responsible for such as the Nucleus website and the
campus LCDs were maintained and updated at a
more productive rate and in some cases given a
face lift to certain content increasing the quality of
the company and the satisfaction of the employees

US Communications is up to date with its content,

delivering higher quality work and new media, and
running at a more efficient rate than beforeincreasing moral of employees across the company

Company leaders and employees alike are more

involved than ever and constantly demonstrating an
attitude always going All In

The average work time of selected assignments

saw a noticeable decrease in the time it took to
complete thanks to the additional manpower. Many
projects and tasks were only able to be done due to
having a skill set and level of ability that correlated
with the projects that needed to be done
Many skills that were originally prerequisites of the
position were utilized and advanced under the
careful guidance of my mentor and colleagues that
utilized my unique talents and offered experience
and suggestions as to how I may further improve
Gained insight into a real corporate structure as
well as real world experience that will further my
future career and additionally prepare in my future
studies

Connect employees
Whos New became one of the newest endeavors US
Communications began after I gathered the necessary
resources to attempt the project.

Commitment to the Community

Many projects undertaken were to highlight and
recognize EMD Serono and the outstanding
selflessness of its employees.

Special thanks to Tracy Cyr and the HR Department for giving me this opportunity, my mentor Steve McGettrick taking me under his tutelage, my
un-official mentor Melissa Beglin for putting up with me, and the US Communications Department under Lisa Buffington for welcoming me into
their family and supporting my work. It was an honor working for you all!

EMD Serono is a company looking to enrich its

community under a strong banner of advancing
medical care and commitment to the community. I
spent my summer with the US Communications
department where I learned the importance a
successful company places on coordination and
connecting with one another. The company and
department demonstrated a clear ability and
dedication to its belief of committing 100% to a cause
and acting as a coercive unit to accomplish its tasks.
On top of learning the tools of the trade, I provided my
own input to the team in order to demonstrate my
commitment to the company. The results and findings
of my summer are above. By the end of my internship,
I have come to respect EMD Seronos commitment to
its clients, employees, and community and hope one
day our paths will cross again.
