This year there are 6 buses at FES (603, 610, 618,


620, 656, 696). Bus numbers may have changed from last
year, so please double check what bus your child will be

Literacy Curriculum
The outcomes of the English literacy curriculums
are taught through a variety of reading, writing
and oral activities. Students will be exploring
various comprehension strategies and grade 4
students will focus on independently writing
narrative, descriptive and persuasive texts.
Students will receive 150 minutes of English per
week.

Literacy Curriculum
Health, Science and Social Studies will all be integrated within the
French literacy curriculum through a variety of reading, writing and
oral activities.
Health: the impact of mental and emotional health on our overall wellbeing, conflict resolution, healthy environments, good eating and
exercise habits and employment skills.
Science: Rocks and Minerals, Sound and Light, Meeting Basic Needs
and Maintaining a Healthy Body, Weather and Properties and
Changes in Materials.
Social Studies: Explorations and Investigating Past Societies

Math Curriculum

Grade 4- Number:
Representing, comparing and
describing numbers to 10 000
Math facts to 9+9 and 9X9
Multiplying 2 or 3-digit by 1 digit
numbers
Adding and subtracting 3 and 4digit numbers
Understanding fractions less
than or equal to one
Describing and representing
decimals (tenths and
hundredths)
Adding and subtracting decimals

Patterns and Relations:
Identifying, describing and
reproducing patterns found in
tables and charts in order to solve
problems
Solve one-step equations
involving a symbol to represent

Shape and Space:


Measurement (24-hour clock,
calendar dates, area of 2-D shapes)

3-D objects

Statistics and Probability:


- Demonstrate an
understanding of pictographs and bar
graphs

Homework Expectations
1- Reading (daily)

3- Math (weekly Friday timed math facts test)
4- Incomplete School Work (to be finished at home)
