INTRODUCTION
Melasma is an acquired increase in skin
pigmentation on face and is found mostly in
women, often as a physiological change due to
pregnancy.
Etiology :
The use of compound contraceptive pills.
Another factor :
Contact with UV
rays
use of cosmetics
liver function
disorders
use of
anticonvulsive
drugs
nutritional deficits
upper lip,
cheeks, forehead, nasal bridge, and chin.

The average age of the studied cases was 26.91 and their average
duration of disease was 28 months.

DISCUSSION
The positive response of kojic acid cream 4% on melasma lesions, at
the end of the first, second and the third month were 7%, 24% and
53%.
The positive response to treatment with hydroquinone cream 2% at
the end of the first, second and the third month were 10%, 22% and
32%.
