CONDENSER
Function: To
condense the top part
(distillate section) of
distillation column.

Design flow of condenser

Preliminary calculation (steam heat capacity, steam temperature inlet
and outlet, mixture temperature inlet and outlet, entalphy change,
and steam flowrate) was determined.
Determine the in order to calculate that will be using in determining
the haet transfer area.
Tube rating (area of 1 tube, number of tube, square tube pitch, and
minimum bend radius) was Appendix A.5: Transport Processes and
Unit Operations Fourth Edition (Geankoplis, 2003)
Pressure drop at both shell and tube sides were calculated and
checked.
Condenser design was finalized.

Reboiler
Function: To provide heat
to boil the liquid from the
bottom of a distillation
column.

DESIGN FLOW OF
REBOILER

List down all the basic information ( reboiler type, operating pressure,
crictical pressure, and reboiler duty).
Determine the preliminary calculation ( steam heat capacity, steam
temperature inlet and outlet, mixture temperature inlet and outlet,
maximum reboiler duty, and entalphy change)

Calculate the steam flow rate by dividing the maximum reboiler duty with
enthalphy change.
Determine the in order to calculate that will be using in determining the
heat transfer area.
Calculate the heat transfer area by using assumption of overall heat transfer
coefficient in Chemical Engineering Design Vol. 6 book.
Determine the tube rating (area of 1 tube, number of tube, square tube pitch,
and minimum bend radius.)
Calculate the boiling heat transfer coefficient.
