Political science is closely related to history, economics, and sociology. History provides material for political science and explains changes in political systems. Political science also contributes to history by influencing future events. Political science and economics also influence each other, as economic conditions shape politics and economic systems are regulated by the state. Sociology examines whole social life, including political aspects, so it provides context for understanding political ideologies and organizations. While these social sciences overlap and influence one another, they also differ in their subjects of study, methods, and whether their findings can be generalized.
