What is Finacle:

The word "Finacle" is collection of two words "Finance" and "Oracle"


hence the name "Finacle" originated.

Many Indian banks and all over the world also using Finacle package
as a banking solution as it is highly flexible.

It provides a centralized server hence the name core banking

Finacle facilitates anywhere banking.

Finacle package , for banking solution developed by Infosys in the


year 1999 it has undergone many versions after introduction presently
the version of Finacle package is 10+

How Finacle works:

Finacle is a website like www.indapost.gov.in or www.facebook.com etc.

To open any website, we need a Browser.

All computers have the browser Internet Explorer by default.

Finacle website opens in Internet Explorer only.

FINCORE:

In Finacle there are different solutions. Different solutions are used for
different purposes. Some solutions are FINCORE, SVS, SSOLogin
etc.
FINCORE solution is used at operative post offices to do
transactions.

Finacle terminology:

We will see an option called FUNCTION in all screens of Finacle


In finacle, doing transactions (dep or wdl) is called as adding
transactions
Function and Function code are same. They are used alternatively.
As per our POSB Rules we have several schemes which are SB, RD,
MIS, TD, SCSS, SSA, NSC, KVP, NSS 87, NSS 92 etc. In Finacle we call
these as Products

How the Finacle wants us to work:

All customers of DOP should have unique CIF ID.

All customers should have a savings account before opening of any


other kings of account.

All interest amounts should be transferred to SB account only. (If SB


account is not available, amount will be credited into Sundry account).

All closure amounts should be deposited in customer SB account only


(If SB account is not available closure amount should be deposited in
Post Master account)

If we convince the customer to open a Savings Account, lot of work


will be reduced.

MENU

We work in Finacle with commands called MENU


For every transaction there is a MENU
We enter MENU in MENU short cut field.
Give additional details to complete transaction
For completion of every transaction in Finacle, there are
two steps Counter PA will do the transaction in Finacle
Supervisor will verify the transaction done by Counter
PA w.r.t vouchers
Only after doing these two steps, a transaction is
complete
This is called maker-checker concept

SOLID
SOLID means Service Outlet ID (means Post Office)
Accounts of a Post Office are linked to a SOLID
SOLID is nothing but your office PINCODE followed by two digits
Ex: SOLID of Anantapur HO is 51500100
All users (counter pa, supervisor, ledger clerks, etc) of a post office are linked
to sol id.
Only deposits, withdrawal and passbook updating transactions of accounts of
other SOLs are only to be done at your SOL
If you want to do transactions other than deposit, withdrawal or passbook
updating, then you have to transfer the account to your office first by
following prescribed procedures for account transfer
Transfer of accounts can be done within minutes. So if customer is ready with
transfer application and KYC documents you can initiate the transfer at your
end.
If a user is going from one SOL to other SOL (on deputation or on rotational
transfers etc), user or postmaster has to intimate to CPC about this
movement. CPC people will then change the SOL id of the user as required

Sundry Accounts:

Sundry accounts are used when there is no other account to deposit a particular
amount

Finacle is designed assuming every customer should have one SB account


before opening of any other account

In finacle what happens is, on due date of every month/quarter/year, interest from
MIS/SCSS/TD account will be withdrawn automatically and deposited in
customers SB account. For those customers who do not have SB account also,
the interest will be withdrawn from the MIS/TD/SCSS accounts. This withdrawn
amount should go into some account, because there should be a credit entry. This
interest will go in to sundry account.

So the interest of MIS/TD/SCSS accounts which are not linked to respective SB


accounts will go to corresponding sundry accounts

If the customer comes for MIS/SCSS/TD interest withdrawal, then we will


withdraw the amount from Sundry accounts instead of actual MIS/TD/SCSS
account.

This process of withdrawing interest from Sundry accounts is called


as REVERSAL

These are very important and care must be taken while doing
transactions relating to these accounts.
Office accounts will also have an account number
Office account numbers will 12 digit long. Of these 12 digits first 8
digits will be the SOL ID and last 4 digits will vary for different
accounts
For example, I will show you some office accounts
1.MIS sundry account number of Secunderabad HPO
is 500003000337 ([50000300]{0337} = [SOL ID]{0337})
2.MIS sundry account number of Bangalore GPO is 560001000337
([56000100]{0337} = [SOL ID]{0337})
3. MIS sundry account number of T Nagar HO is 600017000337
([60001700]{0337} = [SOL ID]{0337})

Vault Account:

Daily in the morning we take cash advance from treasury and after counter closing we
pay back all the cash in the counter to the treasury. This physical movement of cash
should also be shown in Finacle. All the cash advance and cash repayment transactions
should be entered in finacle.

In finacle advance and repayment transactions are done using VAULT account only.

We take advance and make repayment using VAULT ID only.

Menu is HTM

Teller Accounts :

All the counter PAs and Supervisors will be allocated with a separate office accounts. All
the transactions which you do in the counter will be reflected in your teller accounts. It is
essential that your physical cash position is tallied with system cash position to ensure
the correctness of all the transactions which you have done on a particular day

Finding new account number for the old account number:

This is the first thing we do once our office is migrated to CBS. We need
the new account number to do transactions.

The new account number will be a 10 digit number.

We can find out the new account number by invoking CNAC.

The format is [SOL ID](SCHEME){ACTUAL OLD ACCOUNT NUMBER}

Ex: Old MIS account is 55689 of T Nagar HO. The format in which you
should enter is 60001700MIS55689

Deposits and Withdrawals:


For any deposit or withdrawal transaction we will enter only account id and amount
and click on submit all other fields are not necessary.

SB Deposit:

After you enter CTM and press enter, you will get the below
screen.

After choosing function as ADD and function type as DEPOSIT and pressing F4
you will get the screen as shown below.

Just enter ac id, amount and click on post your transaction will be completed.

Verification of transactions:

To verify SB deposit, SB withdrawal and SSA deposit we use only one menu. The
menu for verification of SB deposit, SB withdrawal and SSA deposit is CTM.

So for now invoke the menu CTM again. See the image below

choose Function as VERIFY.

Finacle generates a transaction id for every transaction. It identifies and


differentiates between transactions using transaction id only. So enter transaction
id of the transaction which you want to verify in the Transaction ID field. Click Go.

Verification Continued

Finacle will show the following screen to you.


As a supervisor your role is to check whether counter pa has entered the correct
account number, amount. See the account number, name of the customer and
amount matches with those on the voucher. If everything is found correct then
click on submit. Thats it verification is over.

Importance of Saving Accounts:

If customers open Savings accounts, then it will hugely reduce our work
in the counters.

Even in BOs thousands of accounts are opened. For 100 rs ten accounts
are opened. Even for those accounts if you can open SB accounts and
auto credit RD account from SB accounts, offices with BOs will be
hugely relieved from work.

In case of MIS/SCSS/TD the interest which is due every


month/quarter/year will be automatically deducted from the respective
account on the due date. This interest amount from MIS/SCSS/TD should
actually be credited into the SB account of the customer. If it is auto
credited to SB account we can use CTM to simply withdraw the amount
from SB account.

But for those MIS/SCSS/TD accounts where SB accounts are not


available the interest amount which is due will credited into the
respective SUNDRY ACCOUNTS.

It's true that everybody wants to go home


early. But waiting 5 more minutes after
everybody has left the office won't get any
late for you. Leave the office only after
everybody has left. This action of yours will
create a fear in the minds of fraudsters.

How many of us check all the transactions in LOT


with vouchers? How many us add all the counter
LOTs, auto lists and check with the
consolidations?
Generate the CONSOLIDATION REPORTS of all
schemes again and compare them with those
accounted for by the counter staff.

Measures to prevent frauds:

Physical cash Should be tallied with that of Teller Cash


amount.
Many offices are not serious about checking cash position in
Finacle with that of physical cash. Physical cash should
compulsorily tallied with that of cash position shown in
finacle. Supervisors should make sure to check teller cash
positions of your counter staff using HTCPIAE and check
whether they have correctly accounted for the cash.

UPS Connectivity and supply:

1. See that your UPS is giving sufficient backup(more than


one hour).
2. Batteries are replaced in March2015. Two years
warranty.
3. Connect only system and Sify Router to UPS. Do not
connect fans and lights(to be connected to inverter)
