Minimize the waste generation

WASTE SEGREGATION
Waste segregation should be always done at the site of generation
So as to prevent mixing of Non infectious waste with Infectious
waste
That will result in reducing cost of treating non infectious waste.
To solve this use of specifically colored waste containers and plastic
bags is mandatory
Waste collection bags should not be made of chlorinated plastics

COLOR CODING ( YELLOW


BAG)
Human Tissues, Organs and body parts; animal tissues and body parts, waste generated from
the animal houses, microbiology cultures, stocks and vaccines, human and animal cell cultures,
waste generated from production of biological, solid contaminated waste like cotton, dressing,
plaster casts, linens, beddings and other such material contaminated with blood or body fluids.

RED BAG
IV sets, Uro bags, blood bags, gloves, catheters can be sent to
landfill only after autoclaving / microwaving or chemical
disinfection.

BLUE BAGS
It contains used and unused sharps. It may also contain solid
disposable waste . All these items are sent to landfill site after
chemical disinfection / autoclaving and shredding and mutilation.

BLACK BAGS
Discarded drugs, incinerator ash, food and paper waste are put in
the black bags and sent to the municipal landfill.
