Presentation of two
competency profiles
of chosen two posts

What is a Competency
Profile?
A competency profile is defined as a set of
competencies and includes associated
behaviors that link directly to the work to
be performed, as well as the levels of
proficiency for each behavior. Usually
there are several competencies for any
given position. This profile or set of
competencies is specific to an job or
group of jobs.

Two chosen competency

profiles
-Telecomunnications Engieneer

region engaged in the maintenance of signaling
equipment through direct actions or through delegated
actions to ensure compliance with organizational and
legislative requirements.
Most telecommunication engineers are well versed
in engineering and often hold degrees in engineering.
Courses that are fundamental to the field are math and
physics with particular emphasis on circuitry and
mechanical engineering.

Competency profile
Some telecommunication
engineers start off as installers or
repair workers and work their way up
to engineers and supervisors. Many
who hold a degree in science or
engineering can land ajobas an
entry level telecommunication
engineer, but many companies prefer
to hire someone with experience,
notably with at least 5 years
experience in FCC/FAA regulation,
microwave systems,
telecommunication engineering and
design.

Skills
Problem solving
the ability to analyze situations are critical to
the job
Since textbooks only teach how things work,
it takes a strong, persistent, organizational and
analytical person to take the information on
how telecommunications works and apply it to
the real world where a variety of unforeseen
and unexpected circumstances require unique
problem solving to get the job done. Also,
communication (verbal and written) are
needed, as well as the ability to meet deadlines
and work under pressure.

TELECOM ENGINEERS should have

knowledge and understanding of:
General and discipline- specific engineering processes and principles
health, safety and environmental issue
legislative and regulatory framework
resource management
quality assurance principles and systems
problem solving methods
evaluation methods
Application of Signaling Principles relevant to installation
Installation procedures and standards
Installation methods available
Lines and methods of effective communication
Statutory requirements
Limits of own authority and responsibility

What is more, telecom engineer is responsible for managing and

signaling installation/construction activities ensuring him/her that:
correctly interpret the installation requirements
schedule the installation activities efficiently
implement the installation plan in accordance with organizational
requirements
monitor the installation process and the quality of products
review the installation process and identify improvement
handover installed equipment to the satisfaction of the client
support the comissioning by ensuring integrity checks are completed
