    Series circuits have the same current flowing through all elements because there is only one path for current to flow. The total resistance of a series circuit equals the sum of the individual resistances. Voltage drops across each element are proportional to the resistance of that element. Kirchhoff's voltage law states that the sum of the voltage rises equals the sum of the voltage drops in any closed loop in a series circuit.
