Content Analysis PBL

ICT application have become an important part of teaching and
learning. The Ministry of Education has invested a huge effort in
terms of funding and training to equip teachers and students with
ICT skills. In your opinion what are the issues and challanges in
integrating ICT in teaching and learning in our Malaysian
Schools.
Give your idea to this issues in not more than 500 words ( by

EXPERIMENT 1
I Can Freeze And Boil !

ENGAGE

I Can Freeze And Boil !

Do you think its
FREEZING here?
Can you see this
phenomenon in
Malaysia?
7

ENGAGE

I Can Freeze And Boil !

Is it FREEZING
here or BOILING ?
At what temperature
does this process
happen?

Questions
1. What do you observe when the water freezes?
2. Look at your graph, what is the freezing point of
water?
3. What happened to the water temperature during
freezing?
4. How are the concepts of melting point and
freezing point related?
5. How are these two concepts different?

2.How long should you boil the water?
3.Why is the temperature keep on rising?
4.Look at your graph, what is the boiling point of water?
5.What is the physical form of water when it is boiling?

Pressure cooker reduce the

cooking time and save nutrients.
Explain.

EXTENSION

Water

When salt is sprinkled on the ice cubes,

the string attached to the ice cubes.
Can you explain this phenomenon?
19

Unique Feature of This Activity

Experiment can be
repeated or stopped
at any time as most
of the work is taken
over by the data
logger.
Both experiments
can be conducted
simultaneously;
save time

Allow pupils to compare the

results (graph) with other
groups and pose questions.
The temperature
rises very fast. It is
impossible to take
the readings
manually.

Less work need to be done by the students. This enable

experiment to be done in a small group; the learning
20
process becomes more meaningful.

EXPERIMENT 2
Its bigger but lighter !

21

ENGAGE

Its bigger but lighter !

What ingredients do you need to make a bun?

What makes the dough expand and becomes
bigger?
Is there any gas released during the process?
Does the dough becomes hotter?

Why does the carbon dioxide level change?
How do the graphs change with respect to each
other? Is there a pattern here?
What is the end product of this experiment?
27
State the equation of yeast fermentation.

ENHANCE

End Product Of Fermentation

Discuss the importance of fermentation

28

EXTENSION

End Product Of Fermentation

Find out the new technique in fermentation by

using biotechnology in food industrial.

The pattern of pH and temperature changes

can be observe along with the experiment

Discussion

The Reflection and Absorption of Sound

Questions
1. Study the results that you obtained.
a. What type of surfaces is good reflector
of sound?
b. What type of surfaces is good absorber
of sound?
2. You can hear the ticking sound of the clock
at the other end of the tube. Why does
this happen?

35

ENHANCE

The echoes in the studio can be reduced

because the sound is absorbed by soft
and rough surfaces. Name the objects in
this studio that can absorb the sound.

36

EXTENSION
The Bouncing Sound

Bats produce high-pitched beeps or clicks and

listen for the echoes of these sounds as they are
reflected off by objects. How can bat measure
the distance of and object? Plan and carry out
and experiment to find out. Students may use
different distances of tube containing the sound
source (use varies distance of tube A) and record

37

Unique Feature of This Activity

Different sound
can be
detected and
measured
easily, readings
are displayed
as peaks on a
time graph.
This experiment
is almost
impossible done
by traditional
method

Repetition of
activity can
also be
carried out
due to the
quick
completion
for each type
of the
surface used
in this
experiment
