LEARNING DISABILITY

ENGLAND

STEERING GROUP
MEETING 19TH
SEPTEMBER

MAIN POINTS OF THE MEETING

THE GROUP TALKED ABOUT THE
QUESTIONS FROM THE NATIONAL
FORUM

LDE think membership costs are

reasonable but will talk to people if
they cant afford it.
LDE wants people to know they are
an organisation. LDa was just a
campaign.
Organisation members wont have
more power, voting is equal.
LDE wont take money from the
national forum or double up on their
work.

THE GROUP TALKED ABOUT ELECTING A

REPRESENTIVE BODY. (PEOPLE IN CHARGE
OF MAKING DECISIONS)

The Representive body will be made of:

4 Self Advocates
4 Family Members
4 Organisation members
4 Associate members
There was discussion around who would
be an associate member as there was a
worry that self advocates and family
members could be outnumbered. More
thinking is going to be done on this.
