PYTHAGOREAN THEOREM
LINES
TRANSVERSALS ANGLES
A line that intercept two or ,more lines is called a
transversal, and eight angles are formed .
Interior angles lie inside the lines
Example: Angles 3,4,5,and 6
Exterior Angles lie outside the lines
Example: Angle 1.2.7 and 8
Alternate interior angles are interior angles that lie on
opposite sides of the transversal. When the lines are parallel,
their measures are equal.
Example: Angle 4=Angle 6, Angle 3=Angle 5..
Example
1.
Classify each pair of triangles in the figure as alternate interior , alternate exterior, or
corresponding
Angle 1 and Angle 7
Answer
Angle 4 and angle 6 are interior angles because
They lie inside the two lines but on opposite sides
Of the transversal.
The sum of the measures of the interior angles of a triangle is 180 Degree.
A triangle is formed by line segments that intersect only at their endpoints. A point
where the segments intersect is a vertex. The angle formed by the segments that lies
inside the triangle is an interior angle.
Example
The measures of the angle of triangle ABC are in the ratio of 1:4:5.
B. The measure of the angles of triangle LMN are in the ratio of 2:4:6.
THE PYTHAGOREAN
THEOREM
In a right triangle, the sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs is equal to the
square of the length of the hypotenuse.
The Pythagorean Theorem describes the relationship between the lengths of the
legs ( a and b) and the hypotenuse (c)for any right triangle.
You can use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of a side of a right triangle
when you know the other two sides
