NAM is a virtual market but it
has a physical market (mandi)
at the back end.

NAM and existing market system

NAM is not a parallel marketing

structure but rather a device to
create a national network of physical
mandis which can be accessed
online.
It seeks to leverage the physical
infrastructure of the mandis through
an online trading portal, enabling

CHALLENGES

State governments are expected to rectify three

rules and regulation related to mandis.
i. to impart permission to etrade
ii. to implement mandi tariff on single window
iii. to implement single license across the state to
carry out the trade
. Without the states amending their APMC Acts
creating a single agriculture market will be difficult.
. Only three states Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh
and Karnataka have amended their APMC Acts

CONCLUSION

Two things are to be made certain before trading

The grade/quality of the produce being displayed for
auction is reliable and that the buyer is familiar with
the grading system.
The buyer has to have adequate logistical support to
get the produce delivered to him.
In case of eNAM getting the produce delivered is a
limiting factor.
The concept of Warehouse Based Sell (WBS) is a
potential solution to overcome such issues.
Single trading license valid across the country
