Resource Centres
for Educational
Technology

INTRODUCTION

Education Technology has the potential to provide

equal opportunities to students at school from low
income homes, where there is little or no access to
technology, when compared to more affluent homes
where technology is easily available.

We can say that guaranteeing access for all classrooms

to affordable educational technology in order to achieve
curricular goals makes it possible to begin to address
the inequities that exist among schools.

Resource centers
Objectives
1.To understand concept of instructional
resource centre.
2.To design the components of instructional
resources centre
3.To list out necessary equipment and
accessories of an instructional resource centre.

India by various international agencies such as UNDP,
UNESCO, UNICEF, ITU.

It plays a major role in helping develop Indias own

Satellite Programme, INSAT.

The programmes under the SITE were classified into 2

NIST
The National Institute
of Standards and
Technology

NIST

The National Institute of Standards and Technology

known between 1901 and 1988 as the National Bureau of
Standards (NBS).

It supports qualified institutions in

developing teaching materials

curricula that instruct students in the nature,

role and importance of technical standards in modern

society and commerce.

OFFICIAL MISSION Of NIST:

Promote us innovation and
Industrial competitiveness by
Advancing measurement science
Standards and technology in ways
That enhances economic security
And improve our quality of life

NIST`s activities are organised into laboratory

programs and extramural programs. NIST
Laboratories include:

Center for Nanoscale Science Technology.

Engineering Laboratory.

Information Technology Laboratory.

Material Measurement Laboratory.

Physical Measurement Laboratory.

Center for Neutron Research.

CONCLUSION
The ultimate goal of any plan for educational
technology should reflect two intentions:

equitable access to technology for all

students and educators

comparable levels of educational

technology for all schools
