GREAT WALL OF CHINA
The Great Wall of China was built over 2,000 years ago,
by Qin Shi Huangdi, the first emperor of China during
the Qin (Ch'in) Dynasty (221 B.C - 206 B.C.). It is over
6,000 km long. Its thickness ranges from about 4.5 to 9
meters (15 to 30 feet) and was up to 7.5 meters (25 feet)
tall.
TEMPLE OF HEAVEN
As famous as the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, the Temple of
Heaven is a "must" to visit for every tourist coming to Beijing. Lying in the
southern part of Beijing in Chongwen district, Temple of Heaven covers an
area of 270 hectares. The whole structure is 38 metres high and 30 metres in
diameter. It stands on a three-tiered circular marble terrace called Altar for
Grain Prayers. The terrace is edged with white marble balustrades on each
level which are carved with dragon, phoenix and cloud patterns. Every year at
the time of winter solstice, in the old days, the emperor would come here
personally to offer sacrifices to heaven.
MING TOMBS
The Ming Tombs located 50 kilometers to the
northwest of downtown Beijing is the burial ground
of 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) It
is embraced by mountains on three sides and
opening to a flat basin on the south.
FORBIDDEN CITY
Lying at the center of Beijing, the Forbidden City,
was the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing
dynasties. Rectangular in shape, it is the world's
largest palace complex
TIANANMEN SQUARE
The Tiananmen Square at the center of Beijing city
is the largest square in the world, measuring 865
meters north to south, and 500 and 370 meters east
to west

Located in Haidian District, some 12 kilometers
northwest of the downtown, the Summer Palace is the

Huaqing Hot Spring is famed for both its dainty spring scenery and the romantic love
story of Emperor Xuanzong (685-762) and his concubine Yang Guifei in the Tang
Dynasty (618-907). Its long history and location among the wonderful landscapes of
Xian should entice any visitor to visit and bathe in this hot spring
*I¶AN CITY WALL
The wall stands 12 meters (40 feet) tall, 12-14 meters (40-46 feet) wide at the top and
15-18 meters (50-60 feet) thick at the bottom. It covers 13.7 kilometers (8.5 miles) in
length with a deep moat surrounding it. Every 120 meters, there are 98 ramparts on
the wall, which were built to defend against the enemy climbing up the wall
BIG WILD GOOSE PAGODA
Originally built in 652 during the reign of Emperor of the Tang
Dynasty (618-907), it functioned to collect Buddhist materials
that were taken from India by the hierarch Xuanzang. Big Wild
Goose Pagoda is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy
place for Buddhists. It is located in the southern suburb of Xian
City

LUOYANG

Situated in the west of Henan province, Luoyang is the the

starting point of "the Silk Road. As a capital of 13 dynasties it
was the most important location in China, and is dotted with
over 1300 buddhist temples in various states of repair. In 1920
the communist government started rebuilding Louyang and the
city once again started to prosper.

LONGMEN GROTTOES

The Longmen Grottoes are located in the south of

Mount Longmen and face Yi River. Longmen
Grottoes, are regarded as one of the most famous
treasure houses of stone inscriptions in China. The
scenery measures 1,000 metres from north to south
where there are over 2,300 holes and niches, 2,800
steles, 40 dagobas, 1,300 caves and 100,000 statues
 WHITE HORSE TEMPLE

Located at the 12 kilometers east of Luoyang city, the

White Horse Temple is one of the oldest Buddhist
temples in China and is renowned as the cradle of
Chinese Buddhism. An interesting legend related to
the temple goes that a white horse carried the first
Buddhist script from India here .
 ÄANGTZE RIVER CRUISE

From the Mountain Tanggula of Upper Qinghai, the Yangtze River winds
