Volunteer work with Habitat for

Humanity Philippines in Quezon City

Habitat for Humanity

Philippines

Our volunteering activities with

Habitat for Humanity Philippines
involved
helping
the
local
community to haul and clear dirt
at Bistekville 1.

Bistekville 1 is one of several

relocation sites for locals who live
in danger zones (under bridges, on
river banks etc) which are prone to
flooding and other natural disasters.

It is a collaboration between Habitat

for Humanity Philippines and the
local government to provide a safe
and secure place for people in
danger.

Dar Amanah Children's Village

Dar Amanah Children's Village Foundation Inc. (DACVFI)is a non-profit,
non-stock, non-government organization and the only Muslim social welfare
institution in Luzon as per DSWD records. It provides temporary residence,
para-parental, educational and social care to orphaned Muslim children in a
Muslim family-like environment.

17/12/14:

We were introduced to the Dar

Amanah
community
who
warmly greeted us with a
ceremony followed by a tour.
During the tour, we were also
shown the mosque which had
been damaged by the recent
typhoon. We then had a
meeting with the founders, a
Filipino
woman
and
her
Egyptian husband.

18/12/14:
We got to know the children by
participating in the Sports Fest in
the morning. In the afternoon,
we broke into groups and had an
interactive session with them.
During this session, we asked
them to each a make a wish list.
After leaving Dar Amanah, we
set off to buy gifts for each of the
orphans and spent the night
making preparations for our final
visit to Dar Amanah.

19/12/14
We visited Dar Amanah in the
morning to give each orphan
a gift before our final
goodbye. We carried out a
mini Malaysian cultural show
during the closing ceremony.
RM 10 000 has been donated
to Dar Amanah to help them
repair the damages of the
mosque and build a new
building
