Lutuli was the heir to a tribe where his grandfather was a chief of a small tribe.
He had support from his mother who wanted him to get an education.
Albert John Lutuli went to the local Congregationalist school for primary school.
He then when to a boarding school (Ohlanga Institute and then moved to
Methodist institution at Edendale and that is where he finished his teachers
course.
In 1927 Lutuli married a fellow teacher, Nokukhanya Bhengu. They lived in
Groutville.
where in 1929 their first child out of seven was born

Nobel Peace Prize


He was the leader of ten million black Africans in their nonviolent
campaign for civil rights in South Africa.
Albert Luthuli was a man that whished for peace among all men.
Albert luthuli was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1960 for
advocating non-violent resistance to racial discrimination in South
Africa.
Luthuli was granted special permission in 1961 to attend the award
ceremony in Oslo, Norway.
In his speech he said that the award was "a recognition of the
sacrifices made by the peoples of all races in South Africa particularly
the African people who have suffered so much for so long".
