In hospital ,wastes are categorised into 4 types which are as follows

GENERAL WASTE.
PLASTIC WASTE.
DANGEROUS WASTE.
NEEDLE WASTE.
GENERAL WASTE: This general waste include food,paper,cotton etc.This general waste is
symbolically represented with BLACK color
PLASTIC WASTE:This plastic waste includes syringe astes,saline bottles,urine bags,iv sets
etc.This waste is symbolically represented with RED color.
DANGEROUS WASTE: This dangerous waste includes blood,body liquids,blood bags,cleaning
pads etc.This waste is symbolically represented with YELLOW color.
NEEDLE WASTE: This needle waste includes sharp things like needles,glass
bottles,blades,etc.This waste is symbolically represented with WHITE color.

HOSE WHEEL: A Hose Reel is a cylindrical spindle made of either metal, fiberglass, or plastic and
is used for storing a hose. The most common styles of hose reels are spring driven (which is self
retracting), hand crank, or motor driven. Hose reels are categorized by the diameter and length of
the hose they hold, the pressure rating and the rewind method. Hose reels can either be fixed in a
permanent location, or portable and attached to a truck, trailer, or cart.

 GAS SUPPLY AND COLOUR CODINGS OF CYLINDERS
Medical gas supply systems in hospitals, and most other
healthcare facilities, are essential for supplying piped
oxygen, nitrous oxide, nitrogen/surgical air, carbon OXYGEN YELLO WHITE
dioxide, oxygen/nitrous oxide 50/50, medical vacuum, W
anaesthetic gas scavenge/waste anesthetic gas
disposal and medical air to various parts of the facility.
Source equipment systems are monitored by NITROUS YELLO BLUE
central/source alarm systems, at the point of supply with OXIDE W
multiplexed repeater alarms throughout the facility and
for monitoring high and low gas pressure in particular
areas such as general ward, operating theatres, VACCUM BLUE BLACK
ICU/ITU/CCU/NICU, recovery, major treatment rooms,
etc. Equipment is connected to the medical gas supply
system via station outlets. For emergency gas control
area zone service valves are installed in order to prevent BLUE,BLA WHITE AIR
contaminated gas going to patient or to stop gas flowing

to an area in the event of fire. Valves are positioned at
the entrance to all departments and can be accessed
via emergency pull out windows.
