What is Diversity ?
The mixture of attributes within a workforce that in significant ways affect how people
think, feel, and behave at work, and their acceptance, work performance, satisfaction, or
progress in the organization.
It acknowledges the reality that people differ in many ways, visible or invisible, mainly
age, gender, marital status, social status, disability, sexual orientation, religion,
personality, ethnicity and culture
Since the initial focus in the 1980s on women and people of color, the meaning of
diversity has expanded to include other forms of demographics such as religious
practices and sexual orientation
