SWOT ANALYSIS

By Danielle Conneely
Idea 1: Using cinematographer as an actor
Strength- Danielle Conneely was used as she fitted the
characteristics of the stereotypical teenager that we wanted.
Weakness- Having the cinematographer of our production company
in the film can pose some implications. The job of the
cinematographer is to film the scenes as make sure they fit the frame
and are smooth. Because the cinematographer is in front of the
camera for most scenes its hard for her to focus on how clear and the
quality of the shots.
Opportunity- Using an actor who fits the characteristics of the
character it helps aids the whole outcome of the film.
Threat- If the cinematographer is focusing more so on the running of
the film rather than the acting, the realism factor would decrease. If
she is spending more time focusing on the acting rather than the
cinematography the final outcome of the film will lack in quality of
shots.
Idea 2- Potentially filming later in the day, so the lighting
is lower giving the audience the impression that the
action is occurring at night.
Strength- One crucial factor of the genre of a thriller is to engage the
audience into the experience, whilst creating an element of suspense and
tension. Filming at night time would create an suspense effect and
demonstrates tension throughout the opening sequence.
Weakness- Filming in the dark can pose a lot of risks for the actors and
members of group. This is because theres a high risk of falling over and
hurting yourself due to it being hard to see in low key light.
Opportunity- Filming in the dark would mean the outcome of the opening
sequence would be a lot more dark and mysterious to watch. It sets an
mysterious tone for the whole production making the film experience more
enjoyable.
Threat- If we did film our piece at night, we would be at risk of injury as in
scenes the protagonist will be running around in the dark.
Idea 3- Having actors in our opening sequence
who arent in our production group.
Strength- If we have people out of our production company, we will be
able to see a range of different actors and see how they work. They
could benefit the final outcome of the opening sequence.
Weakness- Due to the fact we want to film on the weekends the
actors may not be available because of other priorities or
commitments they have made. This would mean we wouldn'tt be
able to film as many scenes as we wanted to on some filming days.
Opportunity- We would get to see other people act and give feedback
on ideas they have for their character and how they perform the
action.
Threat- They maybe unreliable and therefore fail to attend certain
filming days resulting in wasted filming sessions. As well as, if the
actors choose to cancel last minute it will be a stressful process to
film another scene without them in it or come to the point of not
filming at all.
