Introduction of the Country
The Republic of Ghana is a country in West
Africa.
It has a sovereign unitary presidential
constitutional democracy.
It is located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic
Ocean.
It has a land mass of 238,535 square km.
It has a population of 27 million.
Ghana is bordered by the Ivory Coast in the west,
Burkina Faso in the north, Togo in the east and

Brief History of Ghana
The territory of present day Ghana has been
inhabited for millennia.
The first permanent proof of inhabitation dates
back to the 11th century.
Numerous kingdoms and empires emerged over
the centuries of which Kingdom of Ashanti was
the most powerful.
Starting from the 15th century numerous
European powers contested the area for trading
rights.
In the late 19th century British empire got the

Ghana is located a few degrees north of the
Equator therefore giving it a warm climate.
It is geographically closer to the centre of the
earth than any other country in the world.
It has an Atlantic coastline that stretched 560
km on the Gulf of Guinea in Atlantic Ocean to its
south.

Ghana is endowed with abundant natural wealth,
including vast agricultural, mining and human
resources. Along with its growing manufacturing
sector, agriculture remains a key sector of the
economy.
The country has over 13.6 million hectares of
arable land suitable for crops or livestock, and a
potential annual production of 655,000 metric
tons of fisheries products.
Ghana is currently the second largest producer of

such as sweet crude oil and natural gas.
Ghana is believed to have up to 5 billion barrels (790,000,000
m3) to 7 billion barrels (1.1109 m3) of petroleum in reserves
which is the fifth largest in Africa
It also has up to 1.71011 cubic metres (61012 cu ft) of
natural gas in reserves which is the sixth largest in Africa
Ghana is the world's 7th largest producer of gold
Ghana has the 9th largest reserves of diamonds in the world
