The Highly Immersive Programme (HIP) is a
programme introduced under the MBMMBI
policy that will improve the English
proficiency of students through increased
exposure in schools.
It is a reinforcement of the 1999 MOE
circular on implementing English
enrichment activities in and out of class.
It also aims to inculcate positive behaviours
towards the learning and usage of the
English Language.

Objective :
To create an environment that facilitates
increased use of the English language
outside the formal classroom

Implementation :
Second week of every month.
Participate by all teachers and students
on duty.
English teachers provide script for
prefects to conduct the assembly and
guide teachers to give their speech.
Objective :To encourage students'
confidence in communicating using
English.
Implementation :
The students must use English Language
to communicate with English teachers
outside of classroom.
The teachers gave coupon to those who
are able to communicate well with the
teachers.
The coupon can be used at the school
canteen.

Objective
To develop students' oracy skills in
English and to use English in real-life
context.
Implementation

Students set up a small business in


classroom.
Students prepare a poster to
promote their products.
Objective : Give opportunities to
reflect on what students are learning
and what they have understood.
Implementation :
Each group is given a task by the
teacher.
They have to produce something
to display for their presentation.
All the groups would go around the
classroom to gather information.
At the same time they have to vote
for the best presentation.
Objective :To improve student's
speaking skills in terms of
pronunciation, stress, and
intonation.

Implementation :
Students are given one or two
weeks to prepare and act out a
short sketch based on their
literature component.
The best group is rewarded.
Objective :To improve on students'
spelling ability

Implementation :
Teacher would test students
spelling of words or paragraphs
based on previous lesson.
Objective : to comprehend and
interpret the literary text by
visualizing them

Implementation :
Students are divided into groups.
Each group uses their imagination
to come out with a diorama made
of shoe box and present them in
class.
