WHAT IS GAME BIRD?
A game bird is a bird that is hunted in the wild for
sport or food. Duck and geese also fit into this
definition, although duck and geese are also a lot
more available in the supermarket, where grouse,
partridge, and snipe are often nowhere to be
found. Most, if not all, game birds are enjoyed
roasted, grilled or fried all over the world.
There are Varity of game bird found across the
world which are hunted for food or for pleasure.
EXAMPLE AND PICTURE.
Grouse:
>The grouse is often large, weighing up to 14
pounds, with the males almost twice as large as the
females.
> Grouse are a ground bird, although they will
take a brief flight when alarmed.
> Grouse has a similar white meat/dark meat
proportion to chicken, but it tastes more like pheasant.
CONTD
Partridge
>A partridge is a medium-sized bird in the pheasant
family.
>The most common partridge is the gray partridge with a
reddish face and tail and gray breast and striped sides.
> A large male can measure up to 30 inches and weigh 3/4
pound.
>Partridges prefer farmlands as habitats, building their
nests in high grasses, where they forage on seeds and insects.
>Partridges are often roasted and have a delicate, sweet
flavor with slight game overtones.
CONTD
Snipe
>The snipe is a long-billed marshland dweller, related to the
sandpiper and woodcock.
>The snipe is a challenge to sport-hunters due to its elusive
behavior, natural camouflaging and erratic flight pattern and is
most often hunted at night.
>When prepared for cooking, snipe breasts are
approximately the same size as a dove breast. Snipe is a dark
meat but it is less gamey in taste than duck.
CURRENT SITUATION OF GAME
BIRD
There are at least hundred bird species and bird sub-species listed on the
endangered bird. All of these birds are declining in population and will
decline to the point where each and all of these categorized birds will
become extinct.
Efforts are being put forward to prevent this from happening. These
efforts include the studying of individual species, protecting the birds'
habitats, removing the causes of the decline from what are determined as
the apparent threats. This is all accomplished through the co-operation
and dedication of the different governments, the conservation groups and
the many volunteers, who together strive to understand these specific bird
species that are declining.

GAME BIRD FROM FIELD TO TABLE
To reduce the risk of exposure to disease, wear disposable plastic gloves while handling birds.
Use clean water, premoistened wipes, or alcohol swabs to clean the knife frequently or

between cuts to avoid dragging bacteria into the meat.

Dress the carcass as soon as possible.

Wipe out the cavity with individual paper towels. Prop the cavity open with a clean stick or

hang the carcass to aid in air circulation.

After cleaning the cavity, place carcasses in plastic storage bags and pack on ice or snow, or

refrigerate as soon as possible.

Freeze meat while it is still fresh.

Properly wrapped meat will store in the freezer for 9 to 12 months.

NUTRATION AND HEALTH BENEFITS.
Meat from the game birds contains high levels of the trace element
selenium, which has been linked scientifically to improvements in mood
and the alleviation of feelings of depression.
Selenium also plays a part in boosting the immune system and some studies
say it may reduce the risk of cancer by acting as an anti-oxidant or boosting
immune activity.
Source of low-fat protein and contains large quantities of vitamin B and
iron.
They have lean protein.
Higher omega 3 fatty acid.
CONCLUSION
Game birds are grown up in their own natural
habitant so they have more benefits then harm
when consume.
