PROOF:-
Consider An Arbitrary Fluid Element Of Wedge Shape ABC In A Fluid Mass At Rest As
Shown In Fig. (A). The Width Of Element Perpendicular To The Plane Of Paper Is Unity.
Px = force on a face AB
Py = force on a face AC
Pz = force on a face BC
Figure - A
The forces acting on the element are:-
(1) Normal force to the surface due to fluid pressure
(2)Force due to weight of fluid mass in vertical direction
= W = (dy dy) g
Pascals Law
In the 1600's, the French scientist Blaise
Pascal discovered a fact now known as
Pascal's Law. It states that pressure at any
point in a body of fluid is the same in every
direction, exerting equal force on equal
areas. This works for gases and liquids
(both are fluids).

Pascals Formula
This brings us to a very important formula:
F
P
A
P = Pressure, F = Force and A = Area
7
Variations of Pascals Law
Pressure = Force
F
divided by area P
A
Force = Pressure times
area
F P A
Area = Force divided
by pressure F

Have you used formulas like
Pascals Law? Where are they used?
Ohms Law
used in science class
with electrical components
9
Using Pascals Law
10
Basic automotive braking system

Where might Pascals Law be used?
A twenty ton floor
jack has a hydraulic
piston with a 7 in
diameter.
60 pounds of force is
being applied to the
piston.
Calculate the line
pressure being exerted
on the piston.
12
Using Pascals Law
A caliper piston has a
diameter = 1.5 in
The Master cylinder
has 50 pounds per
square inch (psi) line
pressure applied to it.
Determine the force
exerted on the caliper
piston.

BIBLIOGRAPHY
Respected sir first of all I want to say thank
you to you for give me such a project which
enhanced my knowledge about pascals law.
I have used many source of information
such as www.wikipedia.com and many
other books.and at last I also enjoyed while
making this project.
