A Friday evening in 1949. some college

students meet and pray Chennai (then
Madras), at the home of Prof.
Hannington Enochs house.
The group of senior students continued
to meet at Prof. Enochs home for two
years to pray for the evangelization of
the students of India.
In 1950, Bro. Bhakt Singh told Prof.
Enoch about Dr. Norton Sterrett who was
the Bible teacher in Jhansi (UP). He had
been sent by International Fellowship of
Evangelical Students (IFES).

In 1950-51, God allowed Prof. Enoch and

In 1951 the first Inter Collegiate Evangelical

prayer. Tom Thurley , a Veterinary student
became the first President of Madras ICEU.
Vellore 1948 {Christian Medical
College}

Christian Medical College (CMC)Vellore , they
felt the need of deeper and good fellowship than
what was provided by the exiting Christian Org
in the college campus. Many of students leaders
did not have the born again experience.
In 1950, God sent Dr. John Moody from Australia
to be the staff of CMC Vellore. He held regular
Bible studies for students and gave advice in
times of their struggle and despair.
In November 1951, they formed Evangelical
Union in Vellore.
