W hat the Indian scriptures
speak about Salvation?
All the mankind have sinned, having
transgressed the law of God (disobedience)
Therefore, they devise various ways and means
as to how to escape the wrath of God, and live.
In our own country, the Brahmins perform
sacrifices, and the non-Brahmins offer animals
in sacrifice.
An examination of the Vedas reveal that
sacrifice is spoken of as the only means of
salvation. Prathamani Dharmani; Sacrifices
are the foremost of our first duties.
Im portant things about the Sacrifi
ce

1. Yagnovai Bhuvanasya Nabhih- Sacrifice is the mainstay

of the world.
2. Yagne Sarvam Pratishthitam It is sacrifice that
bestows all things.
3. Yagnovai Sutarmanowh- Sacrifice is the bark (boat)
that enables one to live well.
4. Yagnena Va Deva Divangatah Only by means of
sacrifice, the gods attained heaven
5. Rutasyanah Pathanaya Ati Viswani Durita- Deliverance
through the path of sacrifice

The above doctrines proclaimed by the Vedas

emphasize that sacrifices should be the foremost
for the atonement of sins.
What the Bhagavad Gita says
In the beginning alone, along with the
creation of man, God instituted the
sacrifice, and told them, May this grant the
desires of your heart
(Slo. Sahayagnah Prajasrushtva Purovacha Prajapatih Anena
Prasavishyadhwam Eshavvostvishta Kamadukh )
Those whose sins have been effaced by
means of sacrifice (Yagnakshapitakalmashah)
Oh, noble Guru, there is no place in this
world for him who does not perform even a
single one of these sacrifices; how then
shall he obtain heaven? (Nayam lokostyayagnasvah
kutanayah kurusattama)
W hat other scriptures say
1. Mundakopanishad, :(Plava hyere adrudhayagnarapah
The timbers of the bark (boat) of sacrifice are
unsound.
2. Skanda Puranam :Yagna Vaibhava Khandam, 7th chapter:
(Slo. Plava eyete sura yagna adrudhasheha na
samshayah) Ye gods, sacrifices are like the
timbers of a bark; there is no doubt that they are
unsound
3. Tandya Maha Brahmanam: a) (Sru: "Yagnota avati
tasyachhaya kriyate) It is a sacrifice that saves.
What is being performed, is the shadow of sacrifice.
4. Tandya Maha Brahmanam of Sama Veda: Sru: Prajapatir
devebhyam atmanam yagnam krutva prayachhat
God would offer Himself as a
sacrifice and obtain atonement for sins
5. Aitareya Brahmanam: says, Sru: Yaja-
manah pashuh yajamanameva
suvargam lokam gamayati He
who offers the sacrificial animal;
therefore, he who performs
sacrifices goes to heaven
6. Satpatha Brahmanam:Prajapatir
God Himself is
yagnah
the sacrifice.
(Thus, God Himself must become man, and then
become a sacrifice to save sinners. But we do not
read any such thing written about the incarnations of
our country nor in the Sastras. There is no God-
W hat Rigveda says?

1. About real and appropriate Sacrifice:

Sru: Atmada baladah yasya chhaya-

mrutam yasya mruatyuh He whose
shadow and death become nectar
(Amritam), shall by His shadow and
death, confer strength to the Soul.

(The above sayings clearly reveal that the sacrifices

performed do not themselves confer salvation but they are
the type and the shadow of a great salvation-giving sacrifice.
But He himself shall sacrifice).)
2.About the sacrifi

FULFILLM EN T O F RIG VED A

Who: GOD HIMSELF has done it

How: By sending His own begotten SON and
giving Him, as sacrifice on the Cross, accordingly
When: On the day, between the Year 1 BC and
Year 1 AD. (very beginning of present era)
Where: On Mt. Calvary, (the Mt. Moreah ) in Jerusalem
Why: there is no alternative, to what is said. It is
the manifestation of Gods Love.

If man is capable of finding an alternative, what more?

Man and his Science/religion/ philosophy at work lets

The only purpose for God to incarnate as Son of Man
is to offer salvation through sacrifice of His only
begotten Son. (Vedas confirm what is to be done only.)
Blood is present only in human form; hence He took
the form of a man.
To believe in this incarnation, Cross is the only proof.
If there is no cross, it could be difficult to believe in
Gods love and incarnation, and His redemption
by sacrificial blood.
If this incarnation is true, resurrection is true; without
resurrection, Cross has no value and the Vedic law is
not fulfilled. But it is fulfilled only in Jesus &
through Jesus.

Apology: this presentation is not m y ow n

This comes from Pandit Dharam Prakash

Sharma, Rajasthan
The notes are taken from My Encounter with
Truth by Pandit Dharm Prakash Sharma
Pandit Dharam Prakash Sharma, the only son of
the chief priest of Pushkar Teertha, Ajmer
(Rajastan) came to know Lord Jesus Christ as his
life, his Lord and his Savior by reading the
Sermon On The Mount which was a part of his
college curriculum; (and which also influenced
Mahatma Gandhi, his mentor, tremendously.)
Further, this is confirmed by Adhyaksha Anubhavananda
Kesavaraya Sarma of Mandapaka in his book, What the
Hindu Scriptures say about Jesus Christ?

Panditji says The desire of the vedic

rishis from ages was a quest to seek
the ultimate realization of the true
God and His grace. The same
thirst of my heart was fired through
the power of this great Good News
of the heavenly Father and brought
me at the feet of the eternal God.
THE WITNESS: He had a brilliant career first as a well-
known film star, journalist, then a prominent business
executive and finally as a Member of the Indian
Parliament. Ten years after his knowing the living God
and ten days before his death, the senior Pandit Sohan
Lal, his father said to him My son, for ten years I have
watched your life change and the resulting peace. You
are on the true path and have found the way. Your Lord
is my Lord too.

His is a life of the quest of the living, God ultimately

finding fulfillment despite all manner of difficulties and
opposition. It was through the spiritual strength of his
wife Smt. Asha Ji (Hope Christiana), which guided him to
a very intimate relationship with the Lord and experience
the true meaning of fulfillment.
The experience of
Sadhu Sundar Singh

The believers do good things, because they are saved.

Others do good things, because they wanted to be
saved
Doing Good things (Punya karyalu), will not qualify for
salvation and Heavenly kingdom, life everlasting.
Our good things cannot satisfy God.
Ref: Isaiah 64:6 .. all our righteousnesses are as
filthy rags
Salvation is only by Faith in the Sacrifice of Jesus
Christ.
