INTRODUCTION
ABSTRACT
Title: Role of Co-curricular Activities in Social Development of
Students: A Study of Selected Public Secondary Schools in Suneka,
Kenya.
Purpose: To examine the role of co-curricular activities in social
development among students in secondary schools in Kenya.
Research Design: Cross-sectional survey.
Sample: 92 students from public secondary schools in Suneka division.
Sampling: Random sampling procedure.
Instrument of the Study: Questionnaire
Data Collection: Quantitative
Data Analysis: SPSS

Co-curricular activities contributed Co-curriculum activities have shown a
towards social development in: installing significant positive correlation with the
discipline, building tolerance, enhancing four competencies tested which includes
co-operation, creating a sense of communication, cognitive, managing self
responsibility, improving in judgement, and academic competency as has been
accepting defeat and improving moral proven by many other researchers
values. (MALAY2,2005).
Those who participate in similar activities
benefit in number of ways such as
positive developmental outcomes, higher
educational attainment and
achievement, reduced problem behavior
and positive psycho-social
adjustment(MALAY4,2010).
