Did you know!!
*only 40 percent of
teenage mothers
graduate in the united
states

*also parenthood is the

leading cause of teen girls
who drop out
Should teen parents receive free childcare
from schools?
Thesis statement
Even though some people believe that public school day care programs
simply encourage irresponsible choices, public school should provide
teenage parents with childcare because motherhood is the leading
reason girls fail to finish high school, public schools have the
responsibility to help young mothers complete their education, teenage
dropouts lead to a great number of economic and social problems.
Argument 1
*motherhood is the leading reason girls
fail to complete high school

*with the stress of being a mother and a

student it can cause teen mothers to
drop out of school

*most teen mothers feel the need to of

course focus on finding a job to support
their child instead of focus on school
Argument 2
* schools have a certain responsibility to make
sure their students graduate.

*being that a high percentage of dropouts are

teenage mothers, it is necessary to help their
situations with high school daycares for their
children.

* with the help from daycares more teenage

mothers can potentially graduate high school.
Argument 3
With more teen mothers dropping out it can have a
negative effect on the society.

Teen mother dropouts cost taxpayers about

292,000 dollars due to assistance from the
government to help them.

Dropping out of school in some cases can cause

poverty meaning more people living in shelters.

Dropouts also have a more difficult time finding a

job that can support them and their child.
Graph Notes

-8 u.s states are low in teen

pregnancy graduation rates.

-the states with an 83 91%

graduation rate are heavily
outnumbered by states with
lower graduation rates

-NV and MS have the lowest

graduation rates.
Service Learning Experience
Service learning website
During the process of completing
this process i learned that high
school daycares in my opinion
are very important to not only
the community but also to the
lives of the young teenage girls
who are mothers of children.
Personal reflection
I learned a from this project for example i learned
how to write a paper better is i do not have a lot of
experience with it in the first place, and i also learned
from my research topic for example most of the
students who drop out of school in america are
teenage mothers. In conclusion i learned a lot from
this experience and i am glad i'm one step closer to
graduation.
Solutions and Call to Actions
Three Solutions to Childcare for Teen
Moms are:

*Grants can be written to build daycares

as an add-on to school buildings

*Schools can provide salaries/money to

hire actual daycare teachers

*Money can be raised to purchase

equipment for the actual daycare
