INTRODUCTION
INCLUSIVE CLASSROOM

An inclusive classroom is a general education

classroom in which students with and without
disabilities learn together.
Creating and maintaininig a successful inclusive
classroom requires much thought and
collaboration.
INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
Inclusive education happens when children
with and without disabilities participate and
learn together in the same classes.
Research shows that when a child with
disabilities attends classes alongside peers
who do not have disabilities, good things
happen.
Three broad approaches to
education of children with
disabilities are,
SEGREGATION- Children are classified according to their
impairment and allocated a school designed to respond to that
particular impairment.

INTEGRATION- Children with disabilities are placed in the

mainstream system, often in special classes,as long as they can
accomodate its demands and fit in with its environment.

INCLUSION- The special need students should stay in the traditional

classroom setting with support as needed and the student was
expected to adapt to meet the requirements of the school and under
inclusion, the school adapts to meet the needs of all students.
TYPES OF INCLUSION

REGULAR INCLUSION (PARTIAL INCLUSION)

The students with special needs are educated in regular classes for
nearly all of the day ,or atleast for more than half of the
day, whenever possible, the students receive additional help or
special instruction in the general classroom, and the student is
treated like a full member of the class.

FULL INCLUSION

The students with special needs are always educated alongside

students without special needs, while maintaining appropriate
supports and services.
The SSA,launched in 2000 aimed at the universalisation of elementary
education by 2010.
It pledges that all possible efforts would be made to ensure that every child
with special needs, irrespective of the kind, category, degree of disability,is
provided education in an appropriate environment.
The main component of SSA for inclusive education include identification and
enrolment of children with special needs, assessment of children with special
needs, provision of aids and appliances, teacher training, resource support and
barrier-free access.
Chidrens right to inclusive education is widely recognized in International
Human Rights Law,it recognizes the right to education without discrimination
on any grounds, including gender, disability, ethnic background and other aspects
of identity.
The UN convention of the Rights of persons with disabilities states that
education for disabled children should be inclusive.
Inclusive education services allow children with disabilities to stay with their
family and to go to the nearest school, just like all other children. This plays a
vital role in their personal development.
Parents of disabled children in this type of education also plays a vital
role. They have a right to be involved in all decision making concerning their
child. They should be seen as partners in the education process.parents have
been found to be very important resources for the teachers and the schools.
