to create an illusion of reality through a range of dramatic and theatrical strategies)
It put shows that implemented the Stanislavski System on a regular basis which

Quotes

Remember: there are no small parts, only small actors.

- Refers to actors being able to inhabit the roles that theyre playing

- Knowing every detail about their character regardless of their significance to the
story
"The theatre is the finest medium of intercourse between nations. It reveals their
most cherished aspirations. If only these aspirations were revealed more often ...
the nations would shake hands, and lift their caps, instead of training guns on each
other."
Stanislavski System

He began with attempts to find a style of acting more appropriate to the greater
realism of 20th-century drama than the histrionic acting styles of the 19th century
With this, he developed his system
It requires that an actor utilize their emotional memory among other things

A risk in the Stanislavsky system is that, when role interpretation is based on the
inner impulses of the performer, a scene may take unexpected directions.

Building a Character

- he explains that the outward expressions of character must flow from that character's inner life:
his memories, beliefs, preoccupations, and so on.

- He then elaborates ways in which the actor's manner of speech, dress, and movement (gestures,
facial expressions, etc.) evidence the character's inner experience.

- This also refers to his quote that suggests Knowing every detail about ones character is important
