Finding and

Fitting Two
Tracks
Fitting 2 tracks
4 parameters (m1, b1, m2, and b2) define 2 lines

Each lepton bar is assigned to the line that minimizes the residual distance
from the line to that point.

The total goodness-of-fit metric (to be minimized) is the sum of squared

residuals to these two lines.

Track Reassignment
Clean up the tracks and improve the fit by reassigning bars from one track
to another.

Define the primary and secondary tracks

Lepton bars on the secondary tracks close to the primary track are
reassigned to the primary track
Track Reassignment
Improvement
Improve initial guesses for two-track fit minimization

Minimization program might be caught in local minima

Improvement
The two tracks can include disconnected clusters.

Add a term to penalize disconnectedness.

Improvement
Determine whether track reassignment gives a better or worse fit on
average.
After Reassignment
Finding Y-events
Y-events tend to have many lepton hit bars

Y-events tend to have a poor one-track fit

Y-events tend to have much improved fit after two-track fit

Y-events tend to be connected

Y-events two tracks tend to not be connected.
