Igloo
An igloo or snowhouse is a type of shelter built of snow,
originally built by the Inuit. Although igloos are usually associated with
all Inuit, they were predominantly constructed by people of Canada's
Central Arctic and Greenland's Thule area. Other Inuit people tended to
use snow to insulate their houses, which were constructed
from whalebone and hides. Snow is used because the air pockets
trapped in it make it an insulator. On the outside, temperatures may be
as low as 45 C(49 F), but on the inside the temperature may range
from 7 C (19 F) to 16 C (61 F) when warmed by body heat alone.
Architecture
Architecturally, the igloo is unique in that it is a dome that can
be raised out of independent blocks leaning on each other and polished
to fit without an additional supporting structure during construction. An
igloo that is built correctly will support the weight of a person standing
on the roof. Also, in the traditional Inuit igloo the heat from
the kudlik (qulliq, stone lamp) causes the interior to melt slightly. This
melting and refreezing builds up a layer of ice that contributes to the
strength of the igloo.
The sleeping platform is a raised area. Because warmer air
rises and cooler air settles, the entrance area acts as a cold
trap whereas the sleeping area will hold whatever heat is generated by
a stove, lamp or body heat.
The Central Inuit, especially those around the Davis Strait,
lined the living area with skin, which could increase the temperature
within from around 2 C (36 F) to 1020 C (5068 F).

In the fact it should be measured.
Now Its Your Turn...
Question 1
An Eskimo has a igloo
house with the dome diameter
is 6 meter, tunnel diameter is 60
cm and tunnel length is 60 cm.
1. What is volume of the igloo?
2. What is area of the igloo?
Answer 1
Give that:
= 6 = 600 = 300
= 60 = 30
= 60
2 3 1 2 1
1. = 3 + 2 = 3,14 300 3 + 3,14 30 2 60
2 3 2

= 18.000.000 3,14 + 27.000 3,14 = 56.520.000 + 84.780

= 56.604.780 3
2
2. = 2 + 2 = 2 3,14 300 2 + 2 3,14 30 60
= 180.000 3,14 + 3600 3,14
= 565.200 + 11.304 = 576.5042
.
Question 2
An Civil Person will draw an
igloo house with the dome
diameter is 7 meter, tunnel
diameter is 70 cm and tunnel
length is 60 cm.
1. What is volume of the igloo?
2. What is area of the igloo?
Answer 2
Give that:
= 7 = 700 = 350
= 70 = 35
= 60
2 3 1 2 22 1 22
1. = 3 + 2 = 350 3
+ 35 2
60
2 3 7 2 7
2
= 22 50 350 350 + 11 5 35 60
3
= 89.833.333 + 115.500 = 89.948.833 3
2 22 2 22
2. = 2 + 2 = 2
7
350 +2
7
35 60
= (2)(22)(50)(350) +(2)(22)(5)(60)
= 770.000 + 13.200 = 783.2002
.
Conclusion
An igloo or iglo is a temporary home that built from snow blocks
On the inside warmer than outside
The best material of Igloo is snow which has been blown by wind
Direction the making of igloos Ice block is circled
Volume of Igloo = Volume of Igloos Dome + Volume of Igloos
Tunnel

Area of Igloo = Area of Igloos Dome + Area of Igloos Thunnel
