WHAT IS JAPAN?
Japan is an archipelago of 6852 islands. The Greater Tokyo
Area on Honshu Island, where Tokyo is located, is the
largest metropolitan area in the world with more than
thirty million residents.
WHAT IS ITS MEANING?

The characters that make up the name of Japan mean "the


origin of the sun", which is why the country is also known
as the Land of the Rising Sun.
HOW IS ITS ECONOMY?
Japan has for several decades been one of the great world
economic powers and is now the third largest economy
according to its GDP.
GDP is the monetary value of all the finished goods and
services produced within a country's borders in a specific
time period.
HOW IS JAPAN TODAY?
Japan is a developed country with a very high standard of
living and Human Development Index. Its population
enjoys the highest life expectancy and the third lowest
infant mortality rate in the world.

AKIHABARA
Akihabara is considered by many to be an otaku cultural center and a
shopping district for video games, anime, manga, and computer goods. Icons
from popular anime and manga are displayed prominently on the shops in
the area, and numerous maid cafs are found throughout the district.
Akihabara tries to create an atmosphere as close as possible to the game and
anime worlds of customers' interest. The streets of Akihabara are covered
with anime and manga icons, and cosplayers line the sidewalks handing out
advertisements, especially for maid cafs.
TOKYO TOWER
Tokyo Tower is a communications
and observation tower in the
Shiba-koen district of Minato,
Tokyo, Japan. At 332.9 metres
(1,092 ft), it is the second-tallest
structure in Japan.
Every 5 years Tokyo Tower is
repainted. It takes 1 year to
repaint it. It represents a symbol
of Tokyo as an international city.
KYOTO
Is a city located in the central part of the island of
Honshu, Japan. It has a population close to 1.5 million.
Formerly the Imperial capital of Japan for more than
one thousand years.
Kyoto is also known as the thousand-year capital.
Kyoto contains roughly 2,000 temples and shrines.
About 20% of Japan's National Treasures and 14% of
Important Cultural Properties exist in the city.
MOUNT FUJI
Located on Honshu Island, is the highest mountain
in Japan at 3,776.24 m (12,389 ft).
Mount Fuji is one of Japan's "Three Holy
Mountains along with Mount Tate and Mount
Haku. It is also a Special Place of Scenic Beauty
and one of Japan's Historic Sites.
The forest at the north west base of the mountain
is named Aokigahara. Folk tales and legends tell
of ghosts, demons, Yrei and Ykai haunting the
forest.
Aokigahara is the world's second most popular
suicide location after San Francisco's Golden Gate
Bridge.
