Deli Positions
Order-Taker
Duties:

1. Ask for and record customer’s order and name.


2. Collect donation money (recommended amount or whatever feels good!).
3. Express gratitude for their contribution to/partnership in working toward a
world free from hunger! Seize this opportunity to say more…
1. Indicate 100% of their donation is invested in sustainable development via
THP/CHOICE.
2. Explain FeelGood’s goals or offer a brochure.
3. Invite them to your next general meeting.
4. Ask THEM a question – like how does it make them feel to be ending world
hunger?!?
4. Mention any other current promotions (i.e. raffles, contests, upcoming events,
frequent buyer benefits, etc.)
5. Thank the customer! 

Sandwich Prep
Duties:

*Always wear gloves!*

1. Take order from the….order taker.


2. Grab some bread. Add some cheese OR grab a pre-made uncooked sandwich
from the bag. (indicate chapter specifics here, if any)
3. Add additional ingredients to sandwich and pass along for grilling.

*Make sure cheese surrounds sandwich ingredients. This will hold the
sandwich together when it’s grilled.*

Griller
Duties:

*Always wear gloves!*

1. Take sandwich from prep and place on grill.


2. Make sure customer name and order accompanies the correct sandwich.
3. Check sandwiches periodically.
4. When one is finished cooking (characterized by grill marks and melty cheese),
remove from grill and wrap it in foil.
5. Call customer’s name and hand him/her the sandwich and…
1. Napkin?
2. FeelGood info slip?
3. Anything else?
6. Say thank you!
7. If you have downtime while grilling, seize the opportunity to engage in
conversation with customer about hunger-ending principles.

Duties:

Hand Sanitation
1. Wash hands in sink.
• Use hot water and be sure to wash hands for at least 20
seconds (singing the entire Happy Birthday song to
yourself should do it.)
2. Dry hands and put on gloves.
3. When wearing gloves, don’t touch anything but food!
• If you do, remove gloves and get a clean pair.

*This section seems very obvious but it’s also very important
since we’re running an actual deli.*

Food Preparation,
Serving, and Storage
1. ALWAYS wash your hands before handling food!
2. Wear a hairnet or a hat to ensure no “extra special”
ingredients make it in.
3. Use “oldest” ingredients first (insert how your chapter
controls for this)
4. Perishable ingredients should sit on ice or in cold water
whenever possible.
5. Keep deli prep, grill, and serving surfaces clear and clean.
• Use approved cleaning products to ensure sanitation.
6. Ensure ingredients do not get mixed before storage.

Dish & Utensil Washing

1. Wash dishes and utensils in the designated sink (ideally,


away from the deli prep & service area).
2. Again, use HOT water.
3. Only use FeelGood’s sponges and dish soap.
4. Wash/clean grills, very carefully and thoroughly.
• This should also be done between sandwiches if anything
spills on the grill.
