When floor span exceeds 15m, lattice Girder are more
economical, which supports trusses at right angles. The Girders can be built up of angles or tubes welded and bolted together. The conventional method of covering the large areas are North light and Lattice girder trusses system. Another method is to produce basically flat roof with lattice girders at the right angles. Lighting is provided by building Monitors above the flat, that admits the light from both sides. NORTH LIGHT & LATTICE GIRDER ROOFS North light steel roof truss consists of series of trusses fixed to Girders. The short vertical side of the truss is glazed so that when the roof is used in Northern hemisphere the glazed portion faces the North for best light. STEEL MONITOR ROOF TRUSS Monitor is a flat roof with raised monitors to admit light with no solar glare problems. Monitor type of roof provides a more uniform light than North light roof system. Tubular members are welded with fillet weld joints. These roofs can be constructed with light long span lattice girders supporting the monitor frame.
