Toxic Is any material in liquid, solid, or gas form
that can be inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through skin.
Containing or being poisonous material especially
when capable of causing death or serious debilitation. Toxic waste results from industrial, chemical, and biological processes.
Toxins are also found in household, office, and
commercial wastes.
The waste can harm humans, animals, and plants if they
encounter these toxins buried in the ground, in stream runoff, in groundwater that supplies drinking water, or in floodwaters. It can be considered as toxic if it is: Poisonous - a substance, natural or synthetic, that causes damage to living tissues and has an injurious or fatal effect on the body, whether it is ingested, inhaled, or absorbed or injected through the skin.
Carcinogen - any of a number of agents that can
cause cancer in humans. They can be divided into three major categories: chemical carcinogens (including those from biological sources), physical carcinogens, and oncogenic (cancer-causing) viruses. Explosive - any substance or device that can be made to produce a volume of rapidly expanding gas in an extremely brief period. Toxic material can be human made and others are naturally occurring in the environment.
Not all hazardous substances are considered toxic
Types of toxic waste.
Chemical waste:
Chemical waste is toxic waste that contains
poisonous, flammable, or reactive chemicals in the products. They are mostly found in products that you buy from the store, such as cleaning products, rat poison, and pesticides. Chemical is quite common, since it comes from every household and farm in the world.
Radioactive waste:
Radioactive waste is waste that has been
affected by radiation or emits radiation. Radioactive waste usually comes from nuclear power plants; they may have been the old fuel rods that were replaced recently. Radioactive waste is usually stored deep underground covered in concrete, since they emit a lot of radiation that harms people. Radioactive waste can be anything, even soil that has been affected by radiation. Medical waste
Medical waste is any kind of waste that has been
infected by viruses, diseases, blood, human fluids etc. They include used needles, band aids, catheters, that are designed for one use or cannot be sterilized after being used in an operation. It is very dangerous; since people can be exposed to severe diseases that are on the waste. Medical waste usually comes from hospitals, health care facilities and research labs. Common examples of toxics: In the yard: insecticides, pesticides, pool chemicals, fertilizers.
In the house: aerosol sprays, cleaners, fire extinguishers,
fluorescent lamps, nail polish & remover.
In the garage: engine fluids, flares, fuels ( butane, diesel, gasoline,
kerosene) and used oils.
In the workshops: glues, paint, paint thinners, solvents, wood
finishes. THANK YOU!! SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE!
