An Overview

In January 2010, Indias Ministry of New and

Renewable Energy (MNRE) under the
Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission
(JNNSM) announced the goal of deploying 20
gigawatts (GW) of grid-connected solar power
and 2 GW of off-grid solar by 2022 .
The government of India expects to invest
INR 900 billion (US$18 billion) over the next
30 years for increasing access to power in
remote and rural areas.
