say that something happens all the time or repeatedly or that
something is true in general

The Past Simple can also be used to describe past facts or generalizations which are no
longer true

We use the past continuos to say that somebody was in the middle
of doing something at a certain time. The action or situation had
already started before this time but had not finished

We often use the simple past and the past continuos together to
say that something happened in the middle of something else

We often use the present perfect with JUST, ALREADY, and YET. You can also use the
simple past:

JUST ( A short period of time)


o Are you hungry? No, I have just had lunch

ALREADY ( It is used to say that something happened sooner than expected )


o Do not forget to mail the letter I have already mailed it

YET (Until now. It shows that the speaker is expecting something to happen. Use YET
only in questions and negative sentences )
o I wrote the letter, but I have not sent it yet.

You can use the present perfect continuos for actions that are repeated over a
period of time
