WHAT IS THE INDUSTRY 4.0?

Industry 4.0 is the compilation of an array of technologies, but out of these four, the most
significant ones include people, end-to-end engineering, modularity, and connectivity.
Industry 4.0 can provide the OEMs with competitive advantage while helping the
manufacturers to respond to the ever rising consumer demand and decrease the involved
costs at the same time.

THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
BENEFITS OF INDUSTRY 4.0 IN ENGINEERING

1. Agility
With Industry 4.0, the engineering service providers can leverage the modularity and
agility. Agility enables the organization of a system in sub modules, which can be scaled
up or down with the change in the production requirements. Using agility and
modularity, it becomes easy to manufacture single and customized parts profitably and
efficiently.

2. End To End Engineering

The designing of systems can become more versatile, if the development of the
product can be connected into an integrated process for the automation engineering.
Using object-oriented designing and virtualization, the costs can be reduced and the
value life of the manufacturing systems can be increased, and the products can be
introduced to the market much faster.

3. Connectivity
Connectivity facilitates collection of Big Data, which can be used by MES
(Manufacturing Execution System), ERP or in the analytics for machine learning.
Connectivity also facilitates business decision making in real time, monitoring of the
energy usage and its optimization, and implementation of the predicative maintenance.
