History

Boys Club in Connecticut in 1860 by three


women: Mary Goodwin, Alice Goodwin, and
Elizabeth Hammersley.
1990 name changed to Boys and Girls Club of
America to incorporate girls as a part of target
population.
Vineland Chapter started in 2004
Episcopal Church in Vineland
Back of the church with a small group
To enable all young people,
especially those who need us
most, to reach their full potential
as productive, caring, responsible

To provide a world-class club experience
that assures success is within each of every
young person who enters our doors, with all
members on track to graduate from high
school with a plan for the future,
demonstrating good character and
citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Harassment
All children, staff, volunteers, and parents have the right to be to an
environment free from discrimination and harassment.
Any one who believes they are being harassed should contact the executive
director with the matter.
No retaliation or reprisals.
Child Abuse or Neglect
Safety and security off all Boys and Girls Club members are of utmost
importance.
Suspected child abuse/neglect will be investigated.

Workplace Violence
Professionalism is expected from all staff and volunteers.
Violent behaviors are prohibited.
Zero tolerance policy.
Emergency Procedures
Injury and accidents to child must be reported in complete detail.
Incident report created and documented in Member Tracking System.
Parents notified and given copy of the report.
Medical professionals contacted if necessary.

Social Network
Posting pictures and messages of members of the club is forbidden.
Recommended not to accept friend requests from club members.
Drug and Alcohol
Use of drugs and alcohol on the agency grounds are strictly prohibited.
Drug-free workplace.
Distribution and possession of drugs is prohibited.

Confidentiality
Volunteers and staff should not disclose confidential information unless given
authorization from the Boys and Girls Club.
Press should be referred to executive director.
Code of Ethics
Volunteers and staff are expected to conduct themselves that exemplifies
high standards.

Donations
Donations are accepted.
Member fees
Members pay a $20 annual fee and $20 monthly
fee for child care.
Summer $24 for child care per child

Just like any agency, staffing can prove
difficult when trying to reduce
frequent turnover.
Finding volunteers to commit is
difficult.

Challenges
My Role As An Intern
Bring an objective point of view to the team.
Assist in creating activities for the calendar.
Assist with staffing based on demographics of the club.
Create a staff evaluation to improve with adult connection.
Assist with curriculum development.
