If you come to Mongolia in winter , you will find a country covered with snow and
ice. Its a winter wonderland for those who like winter sports . If you want to go
skiing and sledging , you wont need to go far from the city . Ulaanbaatar is
surrounded by mountains . However if you go as far as Lake Huvsgul ,you wont be
able to swim . You will find the lake frozen over and ready for all kinds of winter
sports . If you want to take part , you will need to bring your ice-skates , ski-suits and
warm clothing.
If you travel to Mongolia in winter , you certainly wont need your swimming
costume or sun screen ! You will see the sun but it wont be very hot. If you arrive in
December the temperatures will be very low , usually anything from -15C to -20C.If
you arrive in January or February the temperatures will go as low as -25C during the
day and -35C at night.
However, dont let the temperatures put you off . If you come to Mongolia in winter,
you will experience our famous Mongolian hospitality . This hospitality is warm
enough to make you forget the cold and give you the most memorable holiday
youve ever had.
