The renewable energy sector in Morocco has significant potential
for growth due to :
Renewable Energies
Solar Plan
National and ambitious project aiming at establishing by 2020 a capacity of
2.000 megawatts.
Generating 52% of energy needs from renewable energies by 2030

maritime routes, and 15km from the European Union enable it to serve a
market of hundreds of millions of consumers through the industrial and
commercial free zones which are run by well-known private operators
It will reach a capacity of 8.5 million containers in 2017

already become a leading hub for cereal transshipment as well

Automobile
The automobile manufacturing sector has been one of the Moroccan
economy’s best-performing in recent years. With nearly 400 000 cars
produced in 2015, Morocco became the largest automobile production
platform in the MENA region
For the first time, the automotive sector became the first source of
Moroccan exports, by reaching 3.8 billion € (24% of total exports)
With the new Peugeot Citroen Plant, car production should reach
650,000 units a year, with an aim of 1 million vehicles in the next 5
years.

Aeronautics
The Moroccan aerospace industry is fast becoming one of the most
competitive manufacturing platforms in the world, with more than 100
supply chain companies established in less than 10 years with about
10,000 employees.
Aerospace exports have increased annually 15% between 2009 and
2015. In 2014, aerospace exports reached 0.7 billion € and represented
4% of total Moroccan exports.
The Free Zone Midparc (close to Casablanca Airport), inaugurated in
2013 and occupying 128 ha, includes ready-to-use facilities, shared
services for logistics, transport and catering and a business center.

AgriBusiness
The Agribusiness sector is a driving force of the Moroccan
economy, contributing:
• 29% of the industrial GDP
• 20% of formal employment
• 15% of processed products, accounting for a production of
more than 80 million MAD.
Investments in Agribusiness
• Almost 16 billion MAD were invested in the sector between 2004
and 2008
• Today it houses 29% of industrial businesses, employing over
90 000 people.
