ABOUT TATA TELESERVICES
Tata Teleservices is one of India’s leading private telecom service providers. The
company offers integrated telecom solutions to its customers under the Tata Indicom
brand, and uses the latest CDMA 1X technology for its wireless network.

. Incorporated in 1996, Tata Teleservices was the first to launch CDMA mobile services
in India with the Andhra Pradesh circle.

Tata Teleservices, along with Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited operates in


more than 6700 towns across 20 circles ie, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, New
Delhi, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana,
Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh (E), Uttar Pradesh (W), Kolkata, Kerala and Assam.
Tata Indicom brand has a customer base of over 30 million

It partnered with Motorola, Ericsson, Lucent and ECI Telecom for the deployment of
its telecom network

Tata Teleservices operates under five different brands— Tata Indicom


(CDMA services), Tata DOCOMO (GSM services), Virgin Mobile, Tata Walky
(which is the brand for fixed wireless phones), Tata Photon (the company’s
brand that provides a variety of options for wireless mobile broadband access)
and T24.

MARKET ACHEIVEMENTS
The company is the market leader in the fixed wireless telephony market with a
total customer base of over 3.8 million.

The Tata Group had revenues of around US $62.5 billion in Financial Year 2007-08, and
includes over 90 companies, over 350,000 employees worldwide and more than 3.2
million shareholders.

The Tata Group had revenues of around USD 70.8 billion in Financial Year
2008-09, and includes over 90 companies, over 363,039 employees
worldwide and more than 3.5 million shareholders

Tata Indicom in April 2009, crossed the 35 million subscribers mark in the wireless
category with an overall subscriber base of over 36 million.

Tata Teleservices is no. 2 slot in terms of Market Share in Delhi NCR region with a
subscriber base of 5 million.
Future Group & Tata Teleservices enter joint venture

VERY SOON people will find mobile telephony services in the


retail stores like Big Bazaar, Pantaloons and Central of Future
Group. Kishore Biyani’s Future Grouop, which owns the country’s
largest retail chain and Tata Teleservices , has initiated a joint
venture to provide mobile telephony services to the customers of
FutureGroup’s retail stores.

 This new venture will operate under the brand name T24 (talk
24 hours). Initially the service will be launched in Andhra Pradesh
and in the later stages the service will be available in all other
Future Group outlets which are present in 75 major cities 65 other
rural destinations of the country.

Tata Indicom, the CDMA services of Tata Teleservices


Tata Indicom, India’s fastest-growing dual-technology (GSM
and CDMA) telecom service provider.

 It has added 2.33 million new subscribers in the month of


May 2010 to cross the 70-million-subscribers milestone in a
short span of just over five years since the launch of its mobile
telephony services in early 2005.

Tata Indicom plans to provide m-commerce, mobile


advertising and social networking under its VAS offerings
Tata Indicom "Non Stop Mobile" allows pre-paid cellular customers to receive free incoming calls.
TATA TELESERVICES LAUNCHES SERVICES IN ASAM

To increase its national footprint TTSL has invested over


Rs 100 crore in Assam circle establishing a pan India
network with 20 circles.

 During the current stage of launch, TTSL will provide


seamless coverage in 31 towns of Assam and will shortly
be launching services in the North East region.

The Virgin Mobile

 “Virgin Mobile” brand is India’s ‘first’ national youth-focused


mobile service. “Virgin Mobile” branded services are being
offered to the Indian consumers by Tata Teleservices through
a brand franchise with Virgin Mobile. Virgin Mobile India will
provide Tata Teleservices with experience and expertise in
designing, marketing and servicing of “Virgin Mobile” branded
products for the youth segment.

VIrgin Mobile, a leading branded venture capital organization, is


one of the world's most recognized and respected brands.
Conceived in 1970 by Sir Richard Branson. Virgin Mobile has
created more than 200 branded companies worldwide, employing
approximately 50,000 people, in 29 countries. Its revenues around
the world in 2009 exceeded £10 billion (approx. US$20 billion).

What does the word DOCOMO means ?

DOCOMO is an abbreviation of the phrase, “do communications over the


mobile network” (officially), and is also from a phrase dokodemo, meaning
"everywhere" in Japanese.

Tata DOCOMO, is a GSM based cellular operator. It was formed in


2008 as an alliance between Tata Teleservices and NTT DoCoMo. It has
also emerged as the first mobile operator in India to have ‘per second’
pulse.

NTTDOCOMO picked up a 26 per cent equity stake in Tata Teleservices for


about Rs 13,070 crore ($2.7 billion) or an enterprise value of Rs 50,269 crore
($10.38 billion).
