ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECT TAXES

What is ?
➢ Taxation system developed to
protect the environment.

How does it function?

➢ Who polluted has to pay taxes for it.

Who are implicated?

➢ factories that use fossil fuels as
energy source.
➢ People that use their own cars. Figure 13. Pollution taxes (Nordhaus, Shellenberger &
➢ Smokers. Trembath, 2012)

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECT TAXES

Economic impact.
➢ Creates a more equitable economic
competence between polluting
companies and green companies.
➢ There is not a suitable direct impact in
the economy (Abdullah, S. & Morley,
S. 2014).
➢ Predictive simulations show a positive
long-term macroeconomics effects
(Oueslati, W. 2014).
THE BEST ENVIRONMENTAL TAX SUCCESS STORY

In the eighties scientists found a

huge hole in the ozone layer. They
attributed to chlorofluorocarbons
and other ozone-destroying
chemicals. Governments
implemented strong measures to
companies that used to use these
chemicals in their products. The
graph show the evolution in the
production of these chemicals in the
next years.
Figure 15. Chlorofluorocarbons’ production ( Oberthur 1997)

Chlorofluorocarbons : chemical use in pressurized products.

CONCLUSIONS
➢ Environmental protect taxes are the best way
to reduce the climate change.
➢ Environmental taxation helps to create
awareness about how much important our
planet is.
➢ New politics taxation will motivate people to
take care of our resources and use it
carefully.
➢ Money from environmental taxes will be used
to develop green projects.
➢ Economy could get benefits from green
taxes.
Would you agree if
your government
implements pollution
taxes to protect the
environment ?
