Mission
The Robeson County Department of Public Health’s
mission is for all residents to achieve the highest level
of health possible through identifying and reducing
health risks; detecting, investigating and preventing
the spread of disease; promoting healthy lifestyles and
a safe and healthful environment; promoting the
availability and accessibility of quality healthcare
services through the private sector; and providing
quality health services to those in need.
History
Established in 1912, the
Robeson County Health
Department is
recognized as the oldest
rural health department
in the nation.
My Internship
Innovative Approach (IA)
The goals are based on the national Maternal and
Child Health Bureau outcome measure focused on the
percentage of children with special health care need
receiving care in well-functioning system. IA helps
with Parents to engage decision-making, identifying
gaps, and overlap in services. Also, offered meetings
for the Parents Advisory Council (PAC) Support
Group, Network, Community and more.
Innovative Approaches has 6 goals based on the national
Maternal and Child Health Bureau performance measures

 Increase the percent of Children  Increase the percent of CYSHCN


and Youth with Special Health who are screened early and
