What is SCC?
• SCC is a type of concrete where no vibration is required for
compaction.
• It will flow under its own weight.

Why SCC is used ?

• Can be placed at a faster rate

• No surface dressing is required
• Improved consolidation around reinforcement and
bond with reinforcement.
• Improved pumpability.
• Improved uniformity.
• Labour savings.
• Reduction of vibrator noise.
Materials of SCC

• Binder
• Fine aggregate
• Coarse aggregate
• Water
• Water reducing admixture
Roles of Water and Superplasticizer

• Water is used for hydration

• Super plasticizer is used for increasing workability
Roles of Fly ash

• Cost of fly ash is less than cement

• It react with free lime produced from hydration
• Ca(OH)2 +SiO2 => C-S-H Gel
• Ca(OH)2 + Al2O3 => C-Al-H Gel
Fresh Properties of SCC

• Workability
• Filling ability
• Passing ability
• Stability
Design of SCC

• Cement is higher as compare to normal concrete

• Fine aggregate is increased

• Powdered material > 500 kg/m3

• Mineral admixture

• Super plasticizer
Design for M25

• Total powdered content- 525 kg/m3

• Super plasticizer-(GLENIUM SKY) 1 – 1.5%
• Mix1-85% cement and 15 % fly ash
• Mix2- 75% cement and 25 % fly ash
• Mix3-65% cement and 35 % fly ash
• Mix4-55% cement and 45 % fly ash
• Mix5-45%% cement and 55 % fly ash
