what they connote and what message they deliver. For font, you
need to consider if it is used in the modern world and if it is big
enough for the audience to read. In terms of colour, you need to
think about what the colour connotes, if it follows your theme
and what other colours would combine well with that colour.
Lil’ Bit Of Hop – Arial is a commonly used font as it is
modern looking and very easy to read, despite it being
upper case or lower case, and therefore it would be suitable
to use on a magazine. On a magazine you would expect the
masthead to be huge and bold and Arial fits that convention
perfectly. It executes perfectly the type of genre people are
going for.
Lil’ Bit Of Hop – Freestyle script would not be suitable as it is quite elegant
and free. It is more suited for wedding invitations, certificates, etc. It is also
not bold enough making it difficult for the audience to read. As we can see this
is more suitable for important or celebratory events.
The use of colour is incredibly important as it
connotes a variety of meanings to the audience
and makes your work look more presentable.
When combining colours, it is best to use the
colour opposite each other, primary and
complementary, as they match well. Two dark
colours would not work well as it may not be
bright for the audience to view. Two bright
colours wouldn’t work well as they would not fit
the rest of your chosen theme well. Combining a
bright and dark colour is good as they
complement each other and intensifies the word
to make it stand out more.
